Dr. Christos Yannaras was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity at the 69th Commencement of Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology on May 21, 2011. He is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Cultural Diplomacy at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, where he taught from 1982 to 2002. He earned a PhD from the Sorbonne in Paris, France, and a PhD from the Aristotle University in Thessalonica. Dr. Yannaras has long been regarded as a leading philosopher and theologian in Greece and Europe. He has been a visiting professor at several universities in Greece and Europe and received an honorary degree from the Theology Faculty at Belgrade University.

He is the author of numerous books and scholarly articles. More recently he has become increasingly better known in the United States with the publication of four of his books into English by Holy Cross Orthodox Press: Orthodoxy and the West; Postmodern Metaphysics; Variations on the Song of Songs; and Person and Eros. Two more of his books will be published by the Press in the future.
