The 20th Annual Nicholas J. Bouras Golf tournament to benefit Hellenic College Holy Cross took place on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem, Massachusetts. Thanks to the leadership of this year's chair, Michael Krone, along with the efforts of the entire committee, the event was a tremendous success, raising significant funds for the school.
The day started off with a barbeque lunch, and then 118 players hit the course for a wonderful day of golf and delicious treats along the way....lamb and chicken souvlaki (prepared by our own HCHC cafeteria staff), locanico (generously donated by Old Nieghborhood Foods) and Table Talk Pies (generously donated by the company).
At the conclusion of the game, everyone returned to the club house to enjoy live Greek music (performed by Board of Trustees member John Panagako and his band), a cocktail hour and a steak and lobster dinner.
Prizes and trophies were awarded to the various winners, including the presentation of the Bouras Cup to the overall winners of the tournament....George Behrakis, George Danis, T. C. Liakos and James Velantzas. There was also a raffle and silent auction comprised of many fabulous items.
This year's event was dedicated to the memory of Dr. James C. Alex, a long time HCHC Board of Trustees member and a tournament sponsor for many years. May his memory be eternal!
We thank the benefactors of the event, Old Neighborhood Foods and the Demakes Families, The Demoulas Foundation, Mr. George Alex and Mrs. Virginia Alex, for their tremendous support. We also thank all of the other sponsors and donors, without whose overwhelming support and generosity the tournament would not have been possible.
Thank you again to everyone who participated in this year's event and we look forward to seeing all of you in 2013.
