Memory Eternal to Fr. Matthew Baker
It is with deep sadness that I share with you the untimely death of Fr. Matthew Baker, who died tragically in an automobile accident last evening. According to a statement from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston, Fr.Baker was traveling home from his parish of Holy Trinity, Norwich, CT, last evening in wintry weather when he had an accident from which he did not survive. His children who were traveling in the car with Fr. Matthew are thankfully not injured.
Fr. Matthew was an alum of Holy Cross having earned a Master of Theology (ThM) degree in 2010 with "highest distinction" and wrote an impressive thesis titled: "Neo-patristic synthesis: an examination of a key hermeneutical paradigm in the thought of Georges V. Florovsky."
Recently, he taught courses (Spring 2014) at Hellenic College as an adjunct instructor in Religious Studies. Fr. Matthew was completing a doctoral degree at Fordham University in historical theology. A dedicated family man, Fr. Matthew's kindness and intellectual acumen were readily visible to those who knew him.
Please join me in prayer for Fr. Matthew's eternal repose, for Presbytera Kate, their six beautiful children, and Fr. Matthew's entire family. May our Lord comfort them at this most difficult of times.
May his memory be eternal.
Fr. Nicholas C. Triantafilou
