CrossRoaders Explore "Vocation and Christ"
The CrossRoaders have officially finished Stage 2 of CrossRoad, "Vocation and Christ." They have spent the past four days taking theology courses and learning about who Christ is.
Along with the theology courses, they have heard other talks and sessions. Dr. Albert Rossi gave a two-part talk on "Prayer and Purity," Mother Photini from All Saints Monastery in Long Island gave a talk on monasticism, and the staff gave sessions on topics such as "Faith and Science" and “Suffering and Vocation.” They have learned so much and are filling their journals with notes.
The CrossRoaders have had some time to explore Boston as well! They went to historic Faneuil Hall, had a picnic in Boston Common, and experienced an incredible view of Boston from the top of the Prudential Center.
On Saturday, participants began Stage 3, "Vocation and Christ in the Face of the Neighbor." The morning began with an activity in Cambridge. Participants and staff woke up early to break bread with the homeless. In small groups of one staff member with three or four students, the CrossRoaders approached people, bought them breakfast, and sat and ate with them, learning about their lives and getting to know them. It was an extremely moving experience for all. It is very profound to acknowledge Christ in the face of a neighbor whom we often overlook.
On Sunday, after celebrating Divine Liturgy on campus, the CrossRoaders heard part two of Dr. Rossi’s talk. In the afternoon, they were given an opportunity to serve their elderly neighbor, another neighbor who is often marginalized. The participants went to two different nursing homes and spent time talking with and engaging in activities with the elderly. It brought the residents much joy to have so many loving visitors!
The CrossRoaders are staying very busy, learning a lot, and doing it all with a lot of joy and laughter! They are growing so close and are forming a beautiful community. View more pictures below!
