OVM Hosts Faith & Learning Symposium

On March 5, the HCHC Office of Vocation & Ministry hosted the 11th annual St. Photios the Great Faith & Learning Symposium. Renowned Orthodox Christian author and University of Maine Professor of Sociology Kyriakos Markides, PhD, spoke on the topic of intuition.

More than 50 participants engaged with the professor and with one another on issues such as macro- and micro-level sciences, Orthodox ascetic spirituality, and the role of intuition in one’s personal, academic, and spiritual life.

Following Prof. Markides’ keynote address, participants broke into smaller groups to discuss these topics in more detail. The groups then reconvened in the Reading Room and had the opportunity to ask their most pressing questions to Prof. Markides, who provided nuanced and insightful answers.

The OVM staff is already looking forward to hosting next year’s symposium. In the meantime, stay tuned for information about other upcoming events!
