HCHC Alum Appointed to the Fr. John Meyendorff & Patterson Family Chair of Orthodox Christian Studies

Hellenic College Holy Cross is proud to announce the achievement of one of its alumni, George E. Demacopoulos, MTS ’95. Professor Demacopoulos has recently been appointed to the Fr. John Meyendorff & Patterson Family Chair of Orthodox Christian Studies at Fordham University and will be installed as the inaugural holder of the chair on Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Rose Hill Campus in New York. Dr. Demacopoulos is a specialist in the history of Christianity for Late Antiquity, the Early Medieval West, and Byzantium. His research has been focused in three distinct areas: (1) Christian East/Christian West in the Middle Ages; (2) the history of the papacy; and (3) the application of the resources of critical theory to the study of Orthodox Christianity. Dr. Demakopoulos founded the Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham with fellow Holy Cross Alum, Dr. Aristotle Papanikolaou, MDiv ’91.
