HCHC Golf Tournament Festive and Successful

On Monday, July 20, 2015, more than 100 golfers enjoyed a day of golf, fellowship and food on a warm and beautiful day at the scenic seaside Kernwood Country Club in Salem, MA, while raising more than $75,000 for Hellenic College Holy Cross. The 23rd Annual HCHC Nicholas J. Bouras Memorial Golf Classic tournament officially began with a prayer offered before 50 golf carts with occupants from New England and from as far away as Atlanta, GA.

While on the course, golfers enjoyed grilled locanico as well as chicken and lamb souvlaki. At the end of the day, a delicious steak and lobster dinner was served, during which HCHC President, V. Rev. Christopher T. Metropulos, thanked the sponsors and participants for their generosity on behalf HCHC. “Today’s tournament marks another important event in the history of our sacred school. HCHC represents the future of our faith in preparing the leaders, both clergy and lay, who will assure our future is bright. My prayer is that next year the number of golfers will double and that similar events will spring up across the country. Your support is more critical today than ever before!”

John Panagako, HCHC Trustee and Chairman of the Tournament, and Fr. James Katinas, Director of Institutional Advancement, offered special thanks to the tournament sponsors: The Demoulas Foundation, The George Safiol Family, Mrs. Virginia Alex (in loving memory of Dr. James Alex), The George Alex Family, The Thomas Demakes Family, Alpha Omega Council, The Behrakis Foundation, Helen A. Carlos and Ron Hilliard.

“My friends from Atlanta said this was the best golf tournament ever," shared Helen A. Carlos, Executive Committee member of the HCHC Board of Trustees. “I look forward to joining in next year and having more golfers join in from throughout the country.”

HCHC is grateful for the faithful and generous support of the outreach events that fund many of the programs and scholarships that benefit our students. The date for the 2016 golf tournament will be posted on our website shortly. We already look forward to greeting even more friends of HCHC for a wonderful day at the beautiful Kernwood Country Club–and its spectacular Don Ross course–next year.
