Two eminent HCHC scholars, the Rev. Dr. George Dion Dragas and the Very Rev. Dr. Joachim Cotsonis, were the featured speakers at a Lenten retreat on April 16 hosted by the Dormition of the Theotokos Church in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Fr. Dragas spoke on “The Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord and Our Resurrection at the End of Time According to St. John Damascene.” Fr. Cotsonis focused on “The Icon of the Extreme Humility and Themes of Lenten Lamentations.” On the eve of the retreat, Frs. Dragas and Cotsonis concelebrated the Akathistos service with His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh, who told the congregation how much he had learned about the Fathers of the Church from Fr. Dragas while a seminarian at Holy Cross.
