HCHC Students Attend Pan-Orthodox Young Adult Retreat in Syracuse, NY

By Claire Barden
Hellenic College Class of 2018

Last weekend, fifteen Hellenic College students journeyed to Syracuse, NY, to participate in the Pan-Orthodox Young Adult Retreat, sponsored by Holy Transfiguration Bulgarian Orthodox Church and St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church and run in part by Mike Tishel, CrossRoad Director of HCHC's Office of Vocation & Ministry. The theme of the retreat was "I ______, therefore I am." There were three sessions, one of which was led by Chris Zaferes, an MDiv student at Holy Cross.

Approximately 40 young adults attended the retreat. Aside from partaking of delicious, home-cooked meals, sharing wonderful fellowship, gathering around a bonfire, and dancing, participants watched a brief video explaining the Syrian refugee crisis and then assembled IOCC emergency kits to support Syrian refugees.

It was truly a beautiful and educational weekend! Be on the lookout for the next Pan-Orthodox Young Adult Retreat and make plans to attend!
