Mission

The Orthodox Scholars' Initiative of the Office of Vocation & Ministry at Hellenic College aims at enhancing the capacity of (a) Hellenic College faculty, and (b) Orthodox Christian faculty nationally, to:

  1. Enhance their own sense of vocation as scholars and teachers in the various disciplines of higher education
  2. Teach and mentor undergraduate students around the topic of vocation
  3. Contribute scholarly work on the Orthodox Christian theological exploration of vocation
  4. Contribute scholarly work on the relationship between Orthodox faith and learning/higher education

The Orthodox Scholars' Initiative (OSI) began in June 2008 as a broadening of the OVM faculty programs at Hellenic College. OSI is funded through a Lilly Endowment Inc. sustainability grant to Hellenic College for the theological exploration of vocation.
