The Center sponsors two lectures per academic year by leading scholars in the field of Byzantine Studies with free admission to all.

The MJCBAC Public Lecture series began in the fall of 2011. Our first lecture was given by Professor Ioli Kalavrezou, Dumbarton Oaks Professor of Byzantine Art History, Department of History of Art and Architecture, Harvard University, on December 1, 2011. The title of her lecture was: ‘Imperial Self-presentation and the Byzantine Oikoumene’

The second lecture was given by Professor Stratis Papaioannoum, Associate Professor of Classics, Department of Classics, Brown University, on April 25, 2012. His lecture was entitled: ‘Ιστορίαι: Remembering the Past in Byzantium’

The third in the series of lectures is scheduled for December 2012 and will be given by Dr. Nancy Patterson Ševčenko, title TBA.

All lectures take place on the campus of Hellenic College Holy Cross, 50 Goddard Avenue, Brookline, MA 02445.
