Holy Cross Seminarians Attend Enthronement Service

student with archbishop

The enthronement of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros as the new leader of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has been greeted with great joy by the faithful throughout the United States and around the world. No one, however, could be more joyful and proud than the Holy Cross seminarians who were invited to witness the ceremony in person at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City. Happiest of all is surely His Eminence’s godson, Elias Pappas, who just graduated from Hellenic College and will enter Holy Cross in September.

With his enthronement, Archbishop Elpidophoros automatically becomes Chairman of our school’s Board of Trustees. Everyone in the HCHC community was especially heartened to hear His Eminence make direct reference to Holy Cross in his speech from the throne: “…our ministry to our youth and our message to our world must be grounded in the development and expansion of our Theological School, the heart of education of clergy and formation of leaders for our Archdiocese but also beyond. I will never forget the extraordinary semester I spent teaching at Holy Cross School of Theology in the spring of 2004.”

We look forward to welcoming His Eminence back to campus soon and wish him many years of good health and fruitful endeavor as our Archbishop. AXIOS!
