    Dr. Thomas C. Lelon, HCHC President from 1976-1986 and longtime Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, was honored at an elegant dinner in Dowd Hall on September 11. His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios, Interim President, presided over the dinner, which was attended by members of the Lelon family and of the current Board. In his remarks, Metropolitan Methodios said that, for more than half a century, Dr. Lelon's life and that of the school "have been inextricably linked."   • His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros Pays Extended Visit to HCHC

    His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America visited HCHC for the second time in less than three weeks, having blessed our community with his presence at Synaxis and Convocation on August 26. This visit extended from September 10 to 14 and allowed His Eminence, who stayed on campus, to participate in many aspects of the life of the school, which he heads as Chairman of the Board.     His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America visited Hellenic College Holy Cross for the first time as Archbishop on Monday, August 26.   • HCHC Mourns the Passing of Metropolitan Panteleimon

    The entire HCHC community has been deeply saddened to learn that His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon (Rodopoulos) of Tyroloi and Serention fell asleep in the Lord on August 7. He was 90 years old and reposed at the Patriarchal and Stavropegial Monastery of Vlatades in Thessaloniki, of which he was the abbot for many years. From 1963 to 1966, he served as Dean of our school. HCHC's Interim President, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston, began his studies here in 1964 under Metropolitan Panteleimon's leadership.   • North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation Releases New Agreed Statement

    The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation has just released a new agreed statement entitled The Vocation and Mission of the People of God: "A Chosen Race, A Royal Priesthood, a Holy Nation."  The document was finalized at the most recent meeting of the Consultation in late May at the Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire. Archimandrite Joachim Cotsonis, PhD, presented a lecture on the iconography of Byzantine lead seals for the graduate students enrolled in the 2019 Byzantine Coins and Seals Summer Program at Harvard University's Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection in Washington, DC. Fr.   • 27th Annual Golf Classic a Great Success

    The 27th annual Hellenic College Holy Cross Nicholas J. Bouras Memorial Golf Classic is always a much-anticipated highlight of the summer and this year's event was no exception. Players from as far away as Georgia gathered at the lovely Kernwood Country Club in Salem, Massachusetts on July 15 for a full day of golf on the championship course designed by the great Donald Ross.     Dr. Philip Mamalakis, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Care at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, recently completed a whirlwind visit to Moscow centered on the Russian publication of his latest work, Parenting Toward the Kingdom. “I wrote this book principally for the Church in the United States,“ he says, “so I am overwhelmed by the strong positive reception my work has received internationally.” The Greek translation of Parenting Toward the Kingdom debuted just last fall.     The enthronement of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros as the new leader of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has been greeted with great joy by the faithful throughout the United States and around the world.
